Develop and publish
Check and preview locally, push versions, and publish privately or to the App Store.
Develop locally
From your project:
npm run check # types, manifest, logic and React bundle; no upload
npm run dev # local preview with simulated data
npx coline-app preview --screenshots .coline/screenshots # capture each stateLocal preview uses simulated data, so it doesn't prove production permissions or external services. preview.seed.ts can provide fake net.fetch responses and connections that are already made, and preview runs queued background jobs automatically.
Credentials
Create a workspace API key with apps.write in the developer console and set it as COLINE_API_KEY. Set COLINE_BASE_URL only if you target a different Coline instance. Keep keys out of app source and version control.
Push a version
npx coline-app push --version 0.1.0To keep one development version current while you work, install it in your workspace once and run:
npm run push:watch -- --internalReload Coline after each change. The CLI bundles from your installed dependencies and keeps imported CSS and inline assets. Coline validates, rebuilds and hashes the uploaded artifact before serving it.
Build in Coline Code
You can also describe the app and let an agent build it:
- In Code, choose Create project, then Coline App, pick a template and describe the app. Code creates the repository, scaffolds the template and starts an agent.
- The agent builds and checks the app against simulated data. Iterate until the preview looks right.
- Press Publish in the project's Code settings to install a new version in your workspace.
Agents never receive publishing credentials. Workspace admins get a project-scoped key with apps.publish, used only when a person presses Publish. You can also ask Kairo to build an app; it drafts the brief and opens this flow for you to confirm.
Diagnose
Open your app under Apps in the developer portal, install it in a workspace, and check Overview and Executions. Failed runs explain the likely cause and link to the release or installation setting that fixes it. Errors in the execution log are redacted.
Distribute
| Option | Who can install |
|---|---|
| Private | Only your workspace |
| Unlisted install link | Anyone you send the link to |
| App Store | Any workspace, after review |
To list in the App Store, submit a version for review from the developer portal. Reviewers see the full manifest: permissions, network hosts, tools and their effects. The developer portal also manages the store listing (screenshots, description, version notes), review feedback, install links, per-install health and analytics.
Updates
When a new version asks for no new permissions, workspaces that allow automatic updates get it automatically. If it asks for more, a workspace admin has to approve it before it installs. Admins can roll back to any approved version.
Paid apps
Paid apps aren't available yet. Apps must not take payments for Coline users through their own billing flows.
Runtime limits
Each install has limits on capability calls, network requests, AI calls and daily executions, so one misbehaving app can't affect a workspace. See runtime limits.
