Memory

What Kairo remembers, where, who it's used for, and how to correct it.

Kairo remembers what people say that isn't written down anywhere else: decisions, owners, dates, conventions, preferences and corrections. Docs, tasks, mail, calendar and code aren't copied into memory; Kairo reads them live, with your permissions, when it needs them.

Where memory lives

Every note belongs to a place, and is only used in answers that the people who can see that place will read.

How Kairo remembers

  • When you ask: "remember this about me", "remember this for the team", or "remember that…" in any conversation. Kairo saves it right away.
  • On its own: where learning is on, Kairo saves decisions, owners and dates once a conversation goes quiet, and facts it finds while reading files and repositories.
  • Tidying: in quiet periods, Kairo merges duplicates and updates facts that changed. Every change shows in Recent changes, and undo puts the lines back.

Content from guests, people at other companies, email, the web and other agents doesn't become memory on its own.

Turning learning on and off

  • Your memory: Kairo → Customize → Memory has Learn from my chats with Kairo and Learn from my personal workspace. Shared workspaces never add to your About you notes.
  • A conversation: its settings have Learn from this conversation. When it's off, Kairo only saves what people ask it to remember.
  • The workspace: admins choose whether Kairo learns from conversations in Settings → Memory.

Viewing and correcting

Open any memory to read it, search it, or add a note yourself. For each line you can:

  • Correct it. The old line stays in history.
  • Forget it. Kairo won't save it again.
  • Move to team memory, for a personal note the whole team should know.
