Workspaces
Personal and team workspaces, members, teams, settings and billing.
A workspace holds everything a group works on: conversations, files, tasks, calendars, code and apps, with one set of members and permissions.
Personal and team workspaces
- Every account has a personal workspace that only its owner can see.
- Team workspaces are for working with other people. Create one from the workspace switcher; it starts with a 14-day trial.
Switch workspaces from the switcher in the sidebar. Your account, profile and some memory follow you between workspaces; everything else stays in its workspace.
Members and roles
Invite people in Settings → Members, by email or with an invite link. Invites wait until they're accepted, revoked or expire.
Each member has a role. Owner, Admin, Member and Guest are built in, and admins can create custom roles with their own permissions in Settings → Roles and permissions. See permissions.
Removing someone takes away their access right away. Their messages and files stay in the workspace.
Teams
Settings → Teams groups people by what they work on. Each team gets its own drive and channels, and everyone in the team can open them. Removing someone from a team removes their access to its drive and channels, but they stay in the workspace.

Who sees which sections depends on their role.
Billing and seats
Team plans are billed per seat. Members and pending invites each take a seat; when every seat is taken, add seats before inviting more people. See plans.
Audit log
Roles and permissions → Audit log lists every change to members, roles, permissions, mail and the workspace itself, newest first, including writes made with API keys.
Archive, transfer or delete
In Settings → General, under Danger zone, the owner can:
- Transfer ownership to another member. You become an admin.
- Archive the workspace. Everyone but the owner is removed and all content becomes read-only.
- Delete the workspace. Every file, channel, message and member is permanently deleted. This can't be undone.
