The desktop app provides a native experience optimized for focused work. It offers better performance, system integration, and features not available in the browser.

Download

Download Coline for your operating system:

Download from coline.app/download or from the web app menu.

Installation

macOS:

1. Open the downloaded DMG file
2. Drag Coline to your Applications folder
3. Launch Coline from Applications
4. Grant permissions when prompted (notifications, calendar access if needed)

Windows:

1. Run the downloaded installer
2. Follow the installation wizard
3. Launch Coline from the Start menu or desktop shortcut

Linux:

1. For AppImage: Make the file executable and run it
2. For DEB: Install with sudo dpkg -i coline.deb
3. Launch from your application menu

Features

System integration:

• System tray icon with quick navigation
• Native notifications with quick actions

Global shortcuts:

• Option + Space (macOS): Open Kairo AI assistant from anywhere

Deep links:

• Open Coline directly to specific pages using coline:// links

System tray

Right-click the tray icon for quick access to:

• Home
• Kairo (AI assistant)
• Calendar
• Tasks
• Notes
• Files
• Mail
• Messages
• Integrations
• Settings
• Quit

Auto-update

The desktop app updates automatically:

1. Updates download in the background
2. A notification appears when ready
3. Click to install and restart
4. Updates apply on next launch if dismissed

You can also check for updates manually in the app menu.

Settings

Desktop-specific settings are available in Settings > Desktop:

• Launch at login: Start Coline when your computer starts
• Start minimized: Open in the background (requires launch at login)

Keyboard shortcuts

Desktop supports all web shortcuts plus:

System requirements

• macOS: 10.15 (Catalina) or later
• Windows: Windows 10 or later
• Linux: Ubuntu 20.04 or equivalent
• Memory: 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB recommended
• Storage: 500 MB for installation

Troubleshooting

App does not launch:

• macOS: Check System Preferences > Security & Privacy and allow Coline
• Windows: Run as administrator if blocked by security software

Notifications not working:

• macOS: Check System Preferences > Notifications > Coline
• Windows: Check Settings > System > Notifications

Performance issues:

• Restart the app to clear memory
• Check for updates
• Disable hardware acceleration in settings if graphics issues occur

Tips

• Use the system tray for quick navigation without switching windows
• Enable launch at login so Coline is always ready when you start your day
• Learn the global shortcut (Option + Space) to access Kairo from any app
• Let it update automatically to get the latest features and fixes
