Home
Home is your workspace dashboard, the first screen you see when you open Coline. It pulls together your calendar, tasks, emails, messages, notes, and habits into a single view so you can start your day with full context and zero app-switching.
Greeting and header
The top of Home shows a personalized, time-aware greeting (good morning, afternoon, or evening) along with your name, avatar, and the current date. If you're on a team plan, your team name appears as a badge next to the date.
Three action buttons sit in the top-right corner:
- Inbox bell: Opens the Universal Inbox, which aggregates unread notifications from email, messages, calendar, tasks, notes, boards, and system events. A badge count shows the total across all categories. You can filter by category inside the dropdown.
- Ask Kairo: Opens a lightweight AI chat panel right from Home. You can ask questions, search the web, generate images, attach files, and mention workspace items without leaving the dashboard. Conversations can be continued in the full Chat app.
- Settings: Links to your workspace settings.
Focus Block
The Focus Block is a smart card at the top of the dashboard that surfaces your most important next action. It ranks items by urgency:
| Priority | Examples |
|---|---|
| Urgent | Events starting within 15 minutes, overdue tasks |
| High | Pending habits (shows current streak), 5+ unread emails, 3+ unread messages |
| Normal | Tasks due today |
| Low | Events later today |
When multiple items need attention, arrow buttons let you cycle through them. You can dismiss any card. Dismissed items expire intelligently (events when they start, habits at midnight, tasks at end of day, emails and messages after four hours). If conditions change significantly (e.g., unread count jumps by 50%+), dismissed items resurface automatically.
Clicking a Focus Block card navigates you directly to the relevant app.
When nothing needs attention, the block shows a "You're all caught up!" message.
Quick stats
Four stat cards sit below the Focus Block in a row, giving you an at-a-glance count of:
- Tasks due today: links to Todo
- Events today: links to Calendar
- Unread emails: links to Mail
- Unread messages: links to Messages
Click any card to jump straight to that app.
Today Timeline
A horizontally scrollable strip that merges your calendar events and tasks due today into a single chronological timeline.
Each card shows:
- A type badge (Event or Task)
- Time range or due time
- A status badge (Happening now, Starting soon, Overdue, Due today, and others)
- Title and context (location for events, priority for tasks)
Status badges use color coding: blue for active, amber for upcoming, and rose for urgent or overdue. Cards for past events appear dimmed. The timeline auto-refreshes status labels every 60 seconds.
Click an event card to jump to Calendar, or click a task card to open the task detail panel.
Widget grid
Below the timeline, Home displays a customizable grid of widgets. The grid uses a two-column layout on desktop and a single column on mobile.
Rearranging and resizing
Every widget has a drag handle in its header. Grab it to reposition the widget. A resize handle at the bottom-right corner of each widget lets you adjust its height. Your layout is saved automatically and persists across sessions.
Tasks widget
Shows a stats bar with three counts: due today, actively in progress, and completed. Below that, a scrollable list of all non-completed tasks sorted by due date.
Each task displays its status (to-do or in progress), title, priority badge (H/M/L), and due date. Overdue and due-today dates are highlighted. Click the status circle to mark a task complete with an animated checkmark, or click the task row to open the full task detail panel.
Events widget
Shows a stats bar with today's total events, how many are happening now, and how many are upcoming.
An AI-powered input field at the top lets you create events with natural language. Type something like "Team standup tomorrow at 9am" and Coline parses it into a structured calendar event automatically.
The event list shows each event with a color-coded icon (matching the calendar source), time, location (with a video icon for Zoom, Meet, or Teams links), and a "Now" badge for events currently in progress. Past events appear dimmed with a strikethrough.
Notes widget
Shows a stats bar with total notes, favorites count, and shared count. A search/create input lets you filter existing notes or press Enter to create a new note with the typed text as its title.
Click any note in the list to open an inline editor right within the widget. The inline editor includes a title field, favorite toggle, and a rich text toolbar (bold, italic, headings, bullet lists, task lists). Changes auto-save with a one-second debounce. A character count appears in the footer, and an "Open" button takes you to the full Notes app.
Habits widget
Shows a progress bar indicating how many of today's habits you've completed (e.g., "3/5, 60%"). Below that, up to six active habits are listed with their icon, title, current day streak, and schedule type (daily, weekly, custom, or rate-based).
Click any habit to toggle today's completion on or off.
Keyboard shortcuts
Home is designed for quick scanning and clicking through to deeper apps. Use the sidebar keyboard shortcut to navigate back to Home from anywhere in the workspace.

- Use Ask Kairo from Home. You can ask your AI assistant questions, draft content, or search the web without leaving the dashboard.
